Taipei: Day 2 (National Palace Museum & Taipei 101)

Toots and I have tried really hard to master the Basic Instagram photo. Do I look super tranquil and mystified in this picture? Like a #humble world traveler? Success!

Standing outside of the National Palace Museum, which houses many Chinese artifacts (yes, Chinese. Some political drama there).

Walking up to the museum. Lots of stairs in the 95 degree humid weather.

The most famous piece in the entire museum. The Jadeite cabbage. It is Jade that looks like cabbage. No joke.

And here is the Jadeite Cabbage’s friend. The Piece of Raw Meat. Again, not kidding. That is made from Jade!

There is a garden in the National Palace Museum. Toots and I spent a long time after touring the crowded museum just decompressing…

…And feeding the Koi fish!

Another just beautiful view 😍 no filter needed

Next up on our tour was Taipei 101, which is the tallest green building in the world. It apparently has set some world records for its speedy elevator. Toots and I rode it to the top of the building in 30 seconds!

Toots finally made it into the blog! 360 views everywhere

Oh, just me peering out. Being thoughtful and curious. #wanderlust

At the bottom of Taipei 101 is a super nice mall with tons of restaurants and high end shops (Gucci, Prada, etc). We waited for 80 minutes to at the famous Din Tai Fung restaurant. And it was worth it!

Chicken dumplings. Amaze balls.

Sticky rice for dessert

Taro and red bean buns for dessert. We love dessert πŸ–

You can watch them make the dumplings. It takes them two years to get properly trained!

Walking back from dinner, we stumbled upon some film festival. This is the director of the Korean film “House of Hummingbird”.
